Our story
Chessboxing is two of the hardest things a person can do, boxing and chess, settled in the same contest. Chessboxing Australia exists to give it a proper home here.

How it started
Chessboxing Australia was founded in 2023, under the leadership of founder and director Tom Lintott, with the objective of creating the sport in Australia. There was no real home for it here, so we set out to build one from nothing.
The response came before there was anything to respond to. People wanted to sign up, and fighters from other sports were reaching out, having waited for something exactly like this. The appetite was already there.
The first training event ran at PCYC Glebe in 2025. Twelve people turned up, some travelling hours to get there, which said everything about how much people wanted this.
Where it goes
Chessboxing Australia is out to build something genuinely great: one of the most exciting sports in the country, built properly from the ground up. This is only the beginning.
