Terms of service

Chess Boxing Australia (ABN 99 668 145 413), trading as Chessboxing Australia. Last updated: 20 August 2026

These terms cover the use of this website. They are deliberately short and written in plain words. By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

What this site is for

This site exists to tell you about Chessboxing Australia, our sessions, our events and our sport, and to let you register, book, apply and buy things.

We try to keep everything on it accurate and current, but we are a small operation building something new. Details change. If something here matters to a decision you are making, email us and confirm it.

This is not medical or fitness advice

Everything on this site is general information. It is not medical advice, and it is not a personalised fitness or training program.

Chessboxing and boxing training are physically demanding. Before you start any training with us, satisfy yourself that you are fit to do it, and speak to a doctor if you have any reason to think otherwise. If you have an injury, a medical condition, or you are unsure, get proper advice first. We are not able to make that assessment for you from a website.

Buying, booking and registering

When you buy something, book a session or register for an event, the terms shown to you at that point apply in addition to these terms. Prices are in Australian dollars.

Accounts

You do not need an account to browse the site or to buy most things. If you create one, keep your access to it secure, and tell us if you think someone else has got into it.

What belongs to us

The Chessboxing Australia name, our logo, our written material, our photographs and video, our rulebook, our rankings and our record book are ours, and they are protected by copyright and trade mark law.

You are welcome to read, share and link to our pages. You may not copy our material and present it as your own, use our name or logo to suggest we are involved with or endorse something we are not, or reproduce our rulebook, rankings or record book as your own standards.

If you would like to use something of ours, ask. We are usually happy to say yes.

What you send us

When you send us material, such as an application, a photograph of yourself, a link to footage or a message, you keep ownership of it.

You give us permission to use it for the purpose you sent it for: assessing your application, matching you safely, answering your enquiry, running the event you registered for.

Separately, we ask for your consent before we use anyone's image in our own content, and we do not publish images of people who have not given it. That is covered in our Privacy Policy.

Please only send us material you are entitled to send.

Using the site properly

Do not attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site. Do not use it to send anything unlawful, misleading, abusive, or designed to cause harm. Do not use it to scrape or harvest other people's information.

Links to other places

Our site links out to other services, including chess.com, our social media, and our booking and payment providers. Those are not ours and we are not responsible for them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply once you are there.

Availability

We will do our best to keep the site up, but we do not promise it will always be available, or always free of errors. We may change, suspend or remove parts of it without notice.

Where we stand on liability

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. If a consumer guarantee applies, it applies, and we cannot and do not try to exclude it.

Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this website. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, our liability is limited to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of doing so.

To be clear, this section is about the website. The risks of physical training and competition are dealt with separately, in the participation documents you sign before you train or compete with us.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page when things change, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
